Where do feelings fit into an archive catalogue?

Working at University of Glasgow Archives and Special Collections on a collection of letters from a young Edwin Morgan to his student girlfriend Jean Watson was a joyful privilege but also a sometimes painful process.

My role was to create the entries for the archive catalogue.

As I worked on this I felt strongly that “Here was their story, under my hands. I was keen to make sure I treated these people with care in creating the archival descriptions – snippets of text that represent my understanding of the items and the collection.”
