The public presentations I have given in the past few years.
Archives and Records Association Conference
August 2018
In this presentation I looked at the value of heritage to Arlington Baths Club and the successes so far of the History Group. I explained which tools the Group is using to record and communicate its findings, and the partnerships and links that the Group has forged. I highlighted some ideas for future projects and the issues and the challenges for a volunteer group trying to do research and participate in community heritage. And I shared some of the fascinating stories of the people we’ve found in the records; people who made Glasgow.
National Archives: Voices of the Home Fronts
October 2018
This conference, Voices of the Home Fronts: Reflections and Legacies of the First World War, was delivered in partnership by The National Archives, the Gateways to the First World War and the Everyday Lives in War Engagement Centres. I gave a paper about the emotional impact of researching the First World War on a community group.
